Erastus Hanor of  made this dresser/ washstand in the late 1800s.  Several examples of Hanor's work are known to exist including a tramp art box and picture frame.  Hanor was a farmer / dairyman and collected cigar boxes from his customers on his delivery route. This dresser required 500+ cigar boxes

 

 1991 at a "Lettis Auction" (Oneonta, NY), several examples of Hanor's work were sold, including the washstand, a ditty box and picture frame.

    Erastus & Nancy Hanor


    Erastus Hanor was born in MilfordOtsego CountyNew York, on 25 May 1835 and died 20 Nov 1901.  He was married to Nancy Gammet and lived in the Cherry Valley, New York area most of his life. The Hanor's had 5 children.  Daughters Stella and Della died in childhood.  Jennie, Cora and Charles survived to adulthood.
