Jerry & Jessica Farrell
The1960s found Jerry Farrel playing
piano in Yukon taverns, then playing for a circus puppet side show.
By the
70s, Jerry found his vocation - making rustic furniture.
Jerry was one of the first rustic crafters in the re-emerging rustic movement that is now sweeping the United States and Jerry is the
"Grandfather" of this revival in the rustic arts. Jerry's
obsessive twig mosaic work has set a very high standard, a standard that
few subsequent rustic furniture artisans have been able to meet. Foraging
in the forest, Jerry collects - roots, burls, striped maple, yellow birch
and more turning these components into all varieties of household folk art
items, from picture frames to sideboards.
Jessica collaborates on
many rustic projects, contributing her accomplished painter's skill,
incorporating acrylic portraits of woodland scenes and wildlife into her
husband's creations. Either of these artist's work can stand alone yet their
combined talents make for exceptional presentations of innovation and craftsmanship.
The Farrell's work is acknowledged in books, by the media and is found in private, corporate and museum
collections.
