#01-014 Rustic wall clock
A very adept and fanciful Canadian rustic wood carving for a clock and decorated with Christmas tree lights and north woods symbols. Call this Canadian "Black Forest Style." The maple leaf, the moose, the hunter's rifle, the owl, the cabin fire place and a cat like creature, perhaps a mountain lion all combine within a carved twig surround for a serious but some what funny folk art item. This clock case has both size and presence and is the work of a skilled yet unidentified carver. A new battery operated clock has replaced the old broken 1950s /1960s style kitchen clock which dates this carving. The Christmas lights are worked by a switch. In excellent condition. It is possible, even likely that the railed gallery porch like features of this work once displayed addition carvings perhaps, figures of granny & gramps in their rockers or other woodland animals?
